Had a little trip down Goldhawk Road in London W12
yesterday and passed a pie and mash shop called Cooke’s. Cooke’s was featured in the 1979 cult classic ‘Quadrophenia’ starring Phil Daniels as Jimmy the Mod.
The first picture is a scene from the film, and the second is one I took yesterday.
Here is a picture of Jimmy and Steph, played by Leslie Ash, taking a trip down Goldhawk Road in the film, and a picture of the road as it is today.
As a Mod in the sixties and now as an owner, restorer and rider of Lambrettas. This film has featured strongly in my life.
Every time I or friends watch it, we end up counting the amount of blunders, continuity errors and obvious faults in it. Still enjoy it though !
It’s a cracking film, one of my all-time favourites.
